One of the best ways to support the Los Altos Library and Friends of the Library is to patronize our stores!

Amazon Sales

The Friends offer a limited number of our highest quality books and media online via Amazon.com. Our Amazon collection includes a variety of popular fiction, non-fiction, textbooks and DVDs at very competitive prices. Look here first if you want a “nearly new” book or DVD. But always remember to check out Bookshelf and visit our library sale shelves and community sales for the broadest selection.

In-Library Ongoing Sales

The Friends stock over 1,000 books on the sales shelves in the Main Library. You can find recently published books for all ages on the shelves in the Main Library across from the circulation desk. A smaller collection is maintained in the Woodland branch (currently closed).

Community Book Sales

We hold a variety of book sales, ranging from one day pop-up sales to huge weekend-long sales. Each sale features a large selection of gently used books in a variety of genres. Our books, audio books, CDs, DVDs, and puzzles are appropriate for all ages. We are beginning to plan our next sale.

Our book sales are very popular with the community as well as with professional used book dealers. Our inventory attracts a wide audience, as the Los Altos Friends is known for offering top quality used items in a wide variety of subject areas – all at a great savings! Plus, by buying from Friends of the Library, you’re supporting literacy and our local library, an important community resource.

Friends Cafe

The Friends Cafe in the Main Library offers inexpensive beverages and snacks such as coffee, tea, cold drinks, cookies and healthy snacks. The cafe is located to the left of the library lobby entrance.  It currently operates on the honor system. While the cafe is a significant source of income for the Friends, we also aim to keep our prices very low to best serve library patrons' needs.
